Further Information
These maps display projected annual days with wet bulb temperatures above 80 °F and 86 °F from 2020 through 2050, under RCP 6.†
Wet bulb is a measure of both heat and humidity; at 100% humidity, the human body is unable to cool itself via evaporation (sweating).† Wet bulb temperatures above 86 °F (30 °C) can cause heat stress in young, healthy adults during minimal physical activity, while a wet bulb temperature of 95 °F (35 °C) is considered the upper limit of human survivability.††
